Cijin 旗津

Entry point of Kaohsiung Port

6 Dec 2011 Tuesday woke up early morning and went to Cijin 旗津 with a friend. Cijin is an elongated island running parallel to mainland with deep water thus forming natural Kaohsiung harbor and with many shipyard all along the coast. Ferry service frequency is every 15mins and only cost 15NTD each passenger, another 20NTD for scooter, while bicycle can be bring on board ferry free.

We board ferry at Gushan ferry pier 鼓山渡輪站 and borrowed a scooter from another friend so that we can cover the whole island faster.
The ferry pier is located at Hamasen 哈瑪星 yacht pier. There are many yacht anchor along the area together with many fishing boat.

Cijin is located near to Xiziwan 西子灣, in order to go over Cijin island we need to take a 10mins ferry ride across the busy Kaohsiung harbor with many big container ship passing by.
The entrance of all the big cargo ship into Kaohsiung harbor.
At the mid crossing, ferry has to slow down allowing big ship to be towed into harbor. Overlooking Kaohsiung city with Tuntex sky tower - tallest building at Kaohsiung

Looking mainland Gushan pier with Shoushan 壽山 backdrop and Cijin island ferry pier.
Our first stop is Qihou Fort 旗後砲臺
From up hilltop we can have an aerial view of the surrounding Cijin town and landscape of Kaohsiung.

Looking toward north east is National Sun Yat-Sen university... Its university where forest, mountain and sea incorporate together :) This is where i do my research as junior researcher.
